A BIT ABOUT ME AND MY STORY...

ENTREPRENEUR

I started my first business at 23, in my bedroom, after uni. It was a clothes-swapping app for students called Fashionably Skint. After raising investment, hustling relentlessly to get my business off the ground and burning out more than once, I lost it all in a phone call.

The short story is, my investors pulled out and left me to deal with a lawsuit with suppliers that nearly made me bankrupt at 26. I was still living at home with my mum, step-dad and two younger brothers. I was skint, scared, lost and felt like the biggest failure on the planet. It took me a while to find my purpose and meaning again.

At 27, I started working as a brand strategist and became fascinated with understanding the stories behind businesses, and how storytelling can be used as a tool for connection and change.

A year or so later, after writing countless purpose, mission and vision statements for businesses of all shapes and sizes who saw this work as a tickbox exercise (eye-roll), and had no idea how to put them into practice across their business, I created my own methodology – 5 Stories. I then co-founded two branding agencies to do the work that I felt needed to be done to help all the businesses doing good in the world connect more with people by telling their story.

In 2022, I became a Great British Entrepreneur Awards Finalist.

Today, my work with 5 Stories exists to help people and businesses learn how to tell their story by breaking it down into their Origin, Empathy, Purpose, Product and Vision stories.

I’ve helped countless founders, entrepreneurs and fast-growing companies to truly connect with people by telling their story with the 5 Stories methodology.

I’ve worked with the likes of Google, London Business School, Tech.London, Capital Enterprise, Huckletree, Level 39, Foundervine, Bethnal Green Ventures, Royal Academy of Engineering (and more) to design and deliver workshops and programmes for founders, entrepreneurs and business leaders.

STORYTELLER

My story is one of gratitude born from grief. Strength born from circumstance. And a business born from belonging.

Growing up, my grandad gave me the courage I needed to believe I could make my mark on the world. Now I vow to do the same for others.

When I was 18, I was stabbed in a nightclub and nearly lost my life. That experience inspired me to practise gratitude when things get tough.

When I was 21, my uncle took his own life. That loss gave me the motivation I needed to help others find their meaning and purpose in life.

It took me a really long time, but eventually I realised that these experiences are my strength and a part of my story.

Imagine if it didn’t have to take all this time?

Imagine if we had something that helped us connect with our truths and the things that connect us all?

I believe telling our story is a lifelong commitment and practice. I believe, when we all learn how to connect with our story and tell it clearly, confidently and powerfully, we’ll all feel more connected and less afraid of being ourselves.

My purpose is to show everyone in the world how to tell their story, because when they do, they’ll change their life and their business.

“Your story will set you free.
I’m here to help you tell it.”

WRITER

I’m fearless when it comes to showing up, being vulnerable and sharing my raw and messy emotions in my story. Because I know that speaking my truth is bigger than me, bigger than you, and bigger than all of us.

It’s about everyone participating in the global narrative of what it means to be a human being.

I’ve only recently started calling myself a writer, because, honestly? I didn’t think I deserved to be called one. I mean, I haven’t finished writing my first book yet (and I started it two years ago…). I don’t write for any big, well-known publications. (But I really want to! Forbes… is that you?) I haven’t been publicly recognised as a writer or won any awards.
But that doesn’t mean I’m not a writer. I am a writer.

Everything I write, I write with wit, grit, heart and soul.

My first book on ‘How to tell your story with 5 Stories’ will be out in 2024.

Mark my words.

Follow me on Instagram and LinkedIn for stories and updates.

I’ve spoken at TEDx Shoreditch, Google, London Business School, FounderFest, Regents University, UCL, LSE, UAL, Kings College London and many more to help inspire and shape our leaders today, and leaders of the future.
